Eclectic Winners and Losers as a Wild 2011 Closes Out (DCTH, MOSY, TSRA, LNG, ZAGG, IMAX)

Stocks were trading near breakeven around late morning, as were oil prices. Gold was trading higher. At mid-day, the Computer Peripheral Stocks Index was the top performing tickerspy Index, led by Zagg Inc (ZAGG) with a 7% gain. The Photographic Equipment Stocks Index was the worst performing tickerspy Index, with Imax (IMAX) down -3%. Shares of Delcath Systems (DCTH) were trading lower after the developer of an experimental system for giving anti-cancer drugs entered into an agreement to sell shares to Cowen & Company from time to time for total net proceeds of $39.75 million. MoSys (MOSY) shares soared after the company sold 43 U.S. and 30 foreign memory technology patents to Invensas, a subsidiary of Tessera Technologies (TSRA), for $35 million in cash. Shares of Cheniere Energy (LNG) were down slightly, despite hedge fund SAC Capital Advisors revealing that it had taken a 5.7% stake in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal MLP.
